Texas Book Festival Announces 2012 Lineup!

Woohoo! Most people start thinking of Halloween around this time of year. Not me, no way, no how. It’s Texas Book Festival season, leading up to the big book event October 27-28 at the Capitol in Austin!

The festival just announced the 2012 author lineup — another stellar crop of authors. Can’t decide who I’m most excited about yet. LOTS of goodies on this list starting with Justin CroninThe Twelve is at the top of my must-read list for 2012!

And then there’s my Texas Monthly colleagues (we just won’t say exactly how long ago that was!): Robert Draper, Michael Ennis, and Jan Reid.

Another category are books that I’m so delighted to see at last, by friends of mine who have been working and working on their books, and now here they are, including Cynthia Levinson’s We’ve Got a Job: The 1963 Birmingham Children’s March, Nikki Loftin’s The Sinister Sweetness of Splendid Academy, and Jacqueline Kelly‘s labor of love, Return to the Willows. But most of all, I’m so so so proud of the amazing Suzy Spencer with Secret Sex Lives. Word to the wise: Suzy’s book launch is at BookPeople on Oct. 4.

I know, I know — I’ve not yet mentioned a lot of you (just you hush, Steven Saylor), but I’ll be issuing some more shout-outs to a lot of more authors (Steven Saylor!) in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, dear readers, start reading NOW to get ready for the big weekend!

Which author are YOU most excited about? Let us know in the comments!
